Although, MSI won’t be releasing a full length CD this year, the band wanted to put out some songs that they’re excited about in an EP to hold ya over till the next full length comes out. Since it’s too late in the year to put it out in every store, we’ve struck a deal with Hot Topic to get it in most of their stores this year. It will also be available through the Hot Topic website soon. Here’s a sneak peak at the cover art, track listing and links to two of the five previously unreleased songs. We’ve also thrown in 5 bonus remixes for free. This release is a Limited Edition and will, in all likelihood, be gone in a few weeks of its release through Hot Topic. Hopefully most of you enjoy it. We know, however, that some of you like to bitch and moan about every little thing and probably will think of it as just Another Mindless Rip Off.

M.S.I. round out 2006 with the release of their Another Mindless Rip-Off MCD. Only available at Hot Topic, Another Mindless Rip-Off features 5 new tracks along side 5 remixes of What Do They Know, from their You’ll Rebel To Anything CD. With their fusion of electro and punk, M.S.I. have garnered a huge following since their debut back in 1997 and it’s easy to see why. Tongue-in-cheek lyrics are fused together with unpredictable electronics and the occasional guitar riff on My World, Pre-Teen Violence, and Born to Be Beheaded. The versions of What Do They Know range from rough and tumble (Procon Backstabber’s Delight mix) to techno influenced (MSI vs. Julien K @ Chester Bennington) to experimental (The Final Word mix). VNV Nation’s Maelstrom mix was surprisingly good due to its non future-pop and more, rawer EBM sound. Whether marketing this exclusively to the Hot Topic audience will be a good idea, I guess only time will tell, but I have a feeling that there are a lot more M.S.I. fans out there that don’t shop at Hot Topic and will possibly miss out on this energetic and addictive MCD.
